Tune up advice for 4G64...
« on: January 22, 2012, 08:26:00 PM »
Alright, gonna stop putting off the needed tune up for the G. It's been hesitating under low RPMs at more than half throttle. I pulled troublecodes from the PCM, and got a misfire on cylinder #3, and a random, multiple misfire code.

Now, here's a few questions I have:

*I planned on using NGK copper plugs, but should I stick with the standard coppers, or use the V-power coppers?
*The two plug wires are going to be replaced, but what about the boots on the coil packs?
*Are the coil packs known for premature failure?

Thanks in advance.

In my experience with the 4G64, I used the stock plugs from the dealer (NGK BKR5E-11, Mitsu P/N MS851357), non-V-power, with fine results on my stock motor. I replaced the wires and the boots, and that eliminated any problems I had with misfiring. I don't have the P/N laying around for the boots, but I bought them from the dealer to the tune of $22 a piece, back in 2006. Other than that, I've had no problems from the coil packs. Hope this helps.

Thanks Greg.

I'm trying to see the real difference between the V-power and normal coppers, I'm not looking for power, but more of a longer lasting plug.
