so tactirx 2.0 and ECUFlash works on 2000 ECU's?  This is the first time I've heard of this!

i am building a galant with 2.4 as a dirt track race car what all can i do to it more power out of it hp and torque has to remain stock but if i do computer things and maybe fuel rail they wont know

first, welcome
second, you have made my day, a dirt track 8g (or any 8g for rallying), that's awsome

third, reflashes are pretty much impossible to detect unless they know what your stock power levels are at @the wheels and/or if they have ECUflash and a taxtrix cable that is compatible with your car

fouth, are there restrictions you have to conform to? define the engine has to be stock, are race there going to be race officials that are going to check that everything is stock? if there are officials, how maticulous are they at checking this? can you run straight exhaust or does that have to be factory?

fourth, so here's my thinking on stuff you could get away with in order of most noticable visually
ECU reflash, v6 throttle body swap (6g72 or 6g74 throttle body)/ or bored out OE throttle body, throttle body bypass (the coolent that normally is going to the throttle body is bypassed) RPW phenolic throttle body spacer, fuel rail (although it won't increase power), 2003 (guys check me on this) Outlander intake manifold (although more power, I do belive it improves the powerband also the stock IM on the 4 cylinder 8g's are known to crack), header (if allowed), 5 speed manual transmission swap (this is the most risky mod for the engine and drivetrain, sans approximently 500 de's, no other 8g galant has a manual transmission stock)

please start up a build thread here, this sounds like an awsome project, once again, welcome to Galant Tuners

You can flash the ECM and obtain roughly a 10-15whp increase in power.

There is no point to install the phenolic spacer, the cost of the item is higher than any benefit on a near stock vehicle. Fuel rail is another item that will be of no benefit until you start increasing the engine performance (higher compressio that would require additional fuel delivery). The stock intake manifolds are common for cracking due to the design, however we have personally ran two of the tubluar intake manifolds on a boosted 4cyl with no cracking issues (boost pressure in excess of 10psi even).

Depending on the restrictions of the race class you may or may not get away with a manual transmission conversion, definitely something that you will need to dig into with your race officials.

Let's keep this topic on focus with the EcuFlash content though please.

sorry, I got a bit excited

anyway, I'm kind of wondering what the limits of ECUflash are, I remember reading on Deeznuts's build where the EVAP and the EGR was shut down through the ECU, so if that is possible, so what else would be possible? would it be possible to make a fuel map and/or ignition map based off the water tempeture or am I just over thinking this a bit?

There really is no limit with EcuFlash...it is just limited by the XML of the ROM file. The OEM ECU is about as good, if not better than most standalones on the market today.

Based off water temp is related to Open and Closed loop operations. Ecu uses Load vs RPM based maps for ignition and fuel as well.

Sent you a PM regarding this.

Usually this is caused by using a key that has not been properly configured, or immobilizer-PCM malfunction
