I brought it in March 2008, the day they announced the Factory closure.
My brother got this out of the staff lease pool at Tonsley.

It was the one they trucked all over Australia to make TV ads and do journo reviews with.
It has every option that a 380 was available with.
This is my exact car ...

It had three superchargers replaced until they finally got it working properly.
It has had a new engine under warranty.

I have crudely timed it with video at 5.7-6.0 secs in the 0-100km/h.

Here's how they did the twin exhausts in the TMR380...in case some of you want to do the same for your US version?

Should be pretty self explanatory.

Note the reversed use of the stock heat shield underneath passenger side rear muffler.

It is made with all stock parts except some minor welding.

The two rear mufflers are the same part number, that settles the argument...

Passengers side plastic liner is cut to facilitate muffler, same as drivers' side

The brakes are 370mm rotors, on 19 inch ROH Flare chrome wheels, 225/ZR19 Advan Sport tyres.

Front are 6 piston calipers, rear are 4 piston calipers, with aircraft braided hydraulic lines.

TMR380 brakes....

Did anyone notice all that room under the car?

Would you believe that a tailshaft to drive the rear wheels fits in that gap?.... :)

here's some pics of me and a friend having a bit of a play one afternoon...

Due to having a variety of spare parts I thought I would do a cut/chop with my new 9 inch cutter xmas present...lol lol

Need some sort of crossmember fitted to simply roll the car, and this little play turned out much better than i thought it would.

In fact some light engineering and it's almost too good to be true in terms of clearances.

Three new issues...

(a) the magna tail shaft is too short in length, so will need to be extended
(b) the steering rack needs raising by 75mm above the x-member, so standoffs need fabrication...
(c) the steering rack pinion shaft needs shortening and resplining at the column clamp by about 70 mm due to raising of the rack...or I could just drill a hole, cut and bolt it without a spline...

Piece of cake eh?

Here is the first test fit....It takes less than half an hour to remove the engine now....so easy just 10 bolts and down she comes....lol
But be warned you'll need a 17mm long reach socket for the drivers' side engine mount.

Only coat hangers holding up the tail shaft for now....lol

The transfer unit clears the tunnel to the right side of tunnel...giving room for an exhaust alongside....bloody awesome!....lol

Still almost too good to be true so far....

My first attempt at x=member chopping....don't worry...its a completely out of shape spare...and I do mean it's stuffed to start with...

But good enough for this mock up fit....

I reckon a piece of plate welded underneath and a hoop over the top and she'll be right....lol

Please ignore the fact that the bits are slightly bent...its a wreck after all.

Simply a proof of concept exercise.....lol

It's all in there except for one  little important shiny thing...lol.......the steering rack.....

You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login

Still gotta fabricate some 100mm standoffs to mount the rack...

Was thinking of steel tubes with a dual triangular lean section all welded to the x-member should do the trick..

That...will be an engineering job cause i don't have a clue if the steering geometry would be affected.

Got the brother ex Tonsley round for a few beers and here are a few suggestions..
Steering rack needs to be in this position...

Make a dual box frame and weld it under the crossmember to firm it up.
overall clearance reduction about 50mm

We pulled apart the AWD hubs from the AWD and compared to the 380 rears and surprise surprise surprise.

They are interchangeable!  All I have to do is get some basic machining done, relocate the ABS sensor ring and fabricate an adapter to bolt the rear diff in and presto!   She'll pop the driveshafts straight in with a hole through the hub...

No suspension or chassis modifications , no brake work needed....even handbrake stays stock.

The 10mm shorter track will be taken up by driveshaft splines....

It's too good to be true....so many potential headaches averted..!

See attached pics...the AWD hub is almost a perfect fit (will just require a thin shim)

The longer I plug at this little project the more I am convinced that Mitsi had planned an AWD 380 right from the floor pan design...

These photos are of the drivers' side rear 380 wheel hub and the 380 hub next to each other on the 380 rear axle arm.

Note no hole through hub for the driveshaft spline ...cause in a 380 it's not driven ...lol

The AWD uses the ABs sensor on the driveshafts whereas the 380 uses it on the HUB...

hopefully it is just a press fit and will move to the AWD hub without any drama....maybe just some heat and a love tap.

What the hell...I can fit any damn diff I like into this thing, as long as the final drive is correct and the driveshaft lengths are good.
Nah...easier to use the magna unit ...for now...lol

Here are a few photos of  the Magna/Diamante AWD drivetrain from underneath the car, so that i can directly compare to the 380 photos posted earlier

Just quietly, I am giving myself a pat on the back for making some good decisions/assumptions earlier about placement of components.

Just look at the tailshaft intermediate mounts on the floor pan of the AWD magna and the 380...its all there.

The Magna tailshaft is not straight...LOL...but with 3 CV/universal joints who cares...it works.
And that is a huge relief for me because the wheel base of the Magna is shorter...so I can center mine and absorb the difference in rear driveshaft spline  movement.

Here are photos of Alscalls AWD Magna....thanks Al...(and also for the test drive of your 6G75 equipped AWD magna.)

I looked all over the forum here and elsewhere couldn't find any evidence of any AWD drivettrain photos...so here you go world....

The AWD components (the transfer case, tailshaft and rear differential) are straight out of a magna/Diamante wreck.

As posted above .....it almost fits perfectly, since the two cars are only about a year apart from the factory.

I think originally they are compatible with the Evo 7.

You my friend will fit in NICELY with this community. Excellent work, and both vehicles are amazing looking. Those wheels look great, kind of similar to the other set of Nissan 350Z wheels they have here in the states.

The AWD swap looks pretty easy for you folks since you have those platforms a little more available than our USDM members. Should be an amazing drive with the AWD setup finished.

Thanks for all the photos and stuff, details are always good!

It was offered as a mitsubishi factory supported kit through Team Mitsubishi Racing team in australia.

Supply was through a ralliart dealer.

The VIN has a second stage manufacturer endorsement.

you can order the kit through Sprintex in western australia or have a look here   You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login

John...awsome build thread post. Lots of pictures of your progress and its quite amazing what you have done with the platform so far.

The 380 looks soo much better than our USDM counterpart. They should of came factory and offered here as a model here in the states to directly compete with the Accord, Camry, and Altima and would blow any of them in the performance department.

I am curious..did Mitsubishi import Endeavors to Austrailia? I know Endeavors were based on the Galant chassis and I am assuming that the subframes should bolt up from the AWD Mitsubishi Endeavors to the 9g Galants (380's).

Welcome to GT man...love your documentation.

Noone seems to have bitten the bullet and forged the whole lot so...

Here is my little project, as posted in other forums... :D

Are you ready to see a lot of pics?...lol

Very nice owner called Rob who used to be Northern Cylinder head services in Melbourne for 40 years.

Now runs a small engineering shop  near Geelong.

Can't beat experience, and he certainly has had his share.

Here are a few happy snaps in random order for your enjoyment.

The entire engine will be fully balanced, the crank is away being Nitride treated at the moment.
