GS oil drain ports

As some of you may know, I stripped a 94 gs to the shell form the jy for 80 bones. But didnt grab the block. Is there any difference in the sohc block and the gs dohc block? If so, I can just grab the gs block right? let me know, thanks.

Internally...more specifically the pistons on the GS block have a higher compression than the SOHC blocks. I believe oil squirters are equipped too like turbo 4G63's to help supply more lubrications to the pistons. Knock sensors were used on the DOHC 4G64's while on the SOHC no knock sensors were used but you can tap for one in the same location on the 4G63t's. Other than that the biggest difference is the cylinder head and oil drain ports are blocked off from factory where in the SOHC blocks you will have to if you decided to swap to a DOHC head.
