What's up everyone! My TGC username is warriorlax5506 and did the whole 6G72 5 speed swap thread over there.

I thought I was leaving the community to join 240sx owners...but now that I blew the differential in the Galant, I think I'm just going to continue with it and attempt a 6G75 swap if I can find a good price that's local. I'm also considering the 6 speed just for shits and giggles....but realistically I will go with the stronger 5 speed when I fix the differential.

I'm really excited to see a performance oriented niche in the Galant community growing and am excited to contribute again.

Good to see you joining GT man. At least you are sticking with the project, these things are cheap to upgrade and maintain compared to some of the other options. You will find much more focus and detail on the performance stuff here...not to mention being among the first for more developments on the platform.

I absolutley hate having a taste of the real world, interning 40 hrs/wk+lifeguarding 20hrs/wknd=no time for GT :(

But yeah I'm excited to look into the 6G75 swap, doesn't seem that bad at all...it'll just come down to if I can find a good deal. I have 3 options right now where my car is at (broken differential):

1. Luck out and find a reasonably priced 6G75 mated with a 6 speed and swap in as one unit
2. Buy a new used transmission, 5 speed or 6, and replace.
3. Fix just differential in my 5 speed.

Options 2 and 3 seem more feasible, but who knows the 75 is still very possible. 2 and 3 also entail me most likely beefing up my intake (sorry still staying N/A until I get out of college) with maybe a 74, 75, or GTS upper manifold and 74 TB.

Let me know what you guys think...oh and I will get pictures up soon when I find some freetime after I get off work.

Good to hear man, really! Yeah shoot me a PM and I can give you my number or what not, seriously I'm always up for helping out. This site is funny, it's basically what MP tried to become from the looks of it.

shhh we don't talk about MP lol
and I think putting a Wavetrac or Quaife LSD in your 5-speed would be a good idea :)

Yeahhhh, I considered an LSD but I don't plan on doing anything too major to the Galant, I just know further down the line in life I'd rather put it towards some form of rwd car I will eventually acquire.

So I wouldn't really utilize it to its potential, rather it would just be something that allows me to break 2 axles instead of one... lol.

if this is Hogwarts, I call Ginny.. LOL
If you plan on going 6 speed.. I wonder how the shifter base bolts up and everything. The only advantage I see to having a 6 speed would be not being at 3000 rpm just to go like 75 mph. Even then, i wonder what the rpm would be for the same speed on the 6 speed. I'm not good at using drive ratios and stuff to calculate this

I'm pretty sure you would use the shifter base that's already in the car since it's cable operated but it may have to be slightly modified for more left-to-right throw.

Yeah I figured the shifter base would be the same, since shifter bases aren't designed by the H pattern, but rather just adjust to the length the shifter cables need to travel. And the 6 speed really is just for bragging rights.. I figure if I can find one for relatively cheap I will go for it, I'm fine with the gear ratios of the 5 speed (although I wish our 5th gear was a little different then our 4th haha)

I took a quick picture with my cell phone today for reference.

Here it is prepping to go under surgery, I got to the point where I'm dropping the transmission tomorrow:
