This 1999 Galant was bought brand new and had a fairly normal life, that is until the car became Adrian's birthday gift from his mother. Unlike most teenagers that get their first car, Adrian quickly started his modifications and researching the vehicle to see what could be done. With the vehicle in such great condition there was no stopping Adrian from making extensive modifications starting in late 2007. Over the summer of 2008 Adrian started working on his suspension by swapping out for a set of Progress springs, paired with a full set of KYB AGX adjustable shocks. The front and rear sway bars were replaced with aftermarket components, and a new set of 3rd Gen Eclipse wheels and Yokohama Avid W4 tires were installed. At this stage of the project the car was not being built to just look good, but also to perform.

Along with a suspension upgrade Adrian managed to find a great deal on a 3.5L 6G74 engine at a local junkyard which he had his eyes set on for a while. Knowing what kind of task the 3.5L swap would be there was very little rush put into this aspect of his build to ensure everything was done correctly. In 2009 the engine swap was finally getting started, all the needed parts and information had been gathered up. With MOD '09 quickly approaching it was the motivation Adrian needed to get the swap done, unfortunately with a time constraint the car would miss making its debut at MOD '09 by about two weeks. Taking a break from working on the car for a few days, Adrian got the swap finished up. The power steering was removed to eliminate unnecessary drag on the crank, and a CSF Aluminum radiator had been added to keep everything cool. All of this is flowing through a Magnaflow Street muffler, and still being emissions legal in California. The engine currently has not been modified, but with what we have seen so far we imagine there will be some serious modifications in the future.

After the engine had been finished up, and Adrian was able to enjoy driving the Galant with a fresh 6G74 swap, an unexpected opportunity came up. A fellow Galant owner had a 5 speed manual transmission up for sale for his V6. The price was right, and the member was local so picking it up was just a matter of enjoying the drive. Once the transmission and all the needed parts had been picked up the power robbing automatic transmission was pulled from the car. A SPEC Stage 1 clutch was used to hold up to the power increase from the stock 3.0L engine, and also it was chosen for its proven ability on a couple other heavily modified Galants in the community. With the 5-spd transmission now completed and installed power of the engine swap becomes evident, and all of the hard work so far is paying off.
